The Tortured Tyrant, a Secret Keepers novel, is an epic family saga of love, evil, incredible suffering, and triumph. It is the story of Rafael, a boy becoming a man, seeking power over the secrets of his past.
Rafael’s life is marked by significant events that change the course of his life forever. One fateful night, the unimaginable happens when his mother sells him into slavery. He flees his captors and finds refuge in the streets of Naples. There, he meets Lorenzo, a crime boss who takes him on as his protégé. Rafael vows to become the most powerful “boss” in Naples and plots to take over his mentor’s business. But one act of cruelty upon an innocent woman sets into motion a curse for revenge upon Rafael and his family.
Within Rafael’s world are three women: Maria, Emilie, and Helen. Each is interwoven in a tangle of love, darkness, hope, and revenge. His relationship with Maria is destroyed when she discovers a dark secret, revealing his betrayal. It is when he meets Emilie that Rafael’s walls begin to crumble and a chance for unconditional love is within his reach. But it is Helen, healer, diviner of the curse, and Rafael’s daughter, who pulls the strings that bind them. As the curse unfolds, Helen is steadfast in her quest to see the curse fulfilled—at any cost.
